WMC Dallas Province – Years of commendable service to the community.

World Malayalee Council Dallas Province came into existence on February 28th, 1997 at a modest function at Evans Community Center, Mesquite in Dallas, Texas. The small group that gathered at the opening function has gathered strength in number and activities and has since forged to the forefront of WMC provinces across the globe and has since occupied the leadership position in conceiving and implementing community support and charitable projects in the local community and in various communities across the globe.

We are proud of our achievements and hope to spread the horizon of services further. With utmost modesty, and gratitude to our various committed leaders so far, we list some of the memorable events in the history of our province during the course of our existence.

Elderly Home Health project:

When the Global Cabinet approved the EHHP, Dallas Province was one of the first Provinces to collect funds for the project and $2000 was handed over to the then Global Treasurer, John Mahew Kadavil. We are proud that we were part of the movement that bought the ambulatory care unit, which was the first to be used for transporting the sick and needy immediately after the deadly Tsunami hit the shorelines of Kerala.

Building for the inmates of Christuraja Prayer Center, Kakkad.

Dallas Province collected funds and built and donated a building in 2004 for trade training center for the inmates of Christuraja prayer Center in Kakkad, Piravom.
Global, America Region and Dallas Province officials were present at the public function and the special function to hand over the keys of the building.

Family Assistance Program:

Dallas Province initiated a program to assist families in duress and their dire needs in our community. Recognizing and identifying the desperate needs of members of our community at critical times of their lives, Dallas Province gathered funds on many occasions and supported the families. We plan to set up a permanent fund for the support of families in need.

Scholarship for 50 college students in Kerala:

In connection with the 50th Anniversary of Kerala Piravy, Dallas Province generated funds for providing scholarship for 50 college students and awarded the funds for the needy students selected from all Districts in Kerala. Kerala Province assisted in selection of students and the funds were distributed in 2006-2007 academic years.

Funds for Hospital Building in Uganda:

At the request of officials from Uganda Province, we had collected and provided funds for the hospital building in Kamwenge village. Our associates provided generous support for this project.

Library building in Ayiramthengu, Kollam:

We have very generously supported the renovation and rebuilding of the library building destroyed by the deadly tsunami. Our province responded swiftly and provided funds in a timely manner.

Dallas province is in the forefront in supporting all the projects initiated by the Regional and Global Councils. We hold a very strong track record in upholding the values of World Malayalee Council.

Our activities are many and diverse, and we owe our successes to the hardworking and dedicated members of our province.

Dallas Provinces Establishes Thomas K. Thomas Memorial Cancer Support Fund.

In memory of the late Regional President Mr. Thomas K. Thomas, Dallas Province launched a special fund to provide complete care for selected patients in Regional Cancer Center, Trivandrum. Deserving patients will be selected by Kerala Province and this year’s recipients will be awarded to the patients around the 1st Anniversary of the demise of Mr. Thomas K. Thomas on October 12th

WMC Dallas is planning towards making this a permanent fund so that needy cancer patients will be supported every year. Our cabinet is working diligently for raising funds for this special project.
